Defensive Shooting Practice
Our goal in Defensive Shooting Practice is to provide members of Red River Regional Marksmanship Center the ability to practice defensive and personal protection shooting outside of normal shooting and competitive shooting parameters.

First Thursday of every month. 6:00pm - 9:00pm.

Equipments Requirements: Outside the belt holster (covers the trigger), belt, pistol or revolver (9mm/38 special minimum) along with extra magazines for semi-automatics and speed loaders or moon clips for revolvers.

Prerequisite: State and demonstrate the three fundamental rules for safe gun handling.

Demonstrate the ability to shoot three five-shot groups with a qualifying pistol or revolver from 7 yards on a blank 8.5” x 11” target.

Cost: $15 for members (goes to the range).

This is not a competition; it is defensive shooting range practice.

Shooting will be done from holstered and un-holstered (low and retention positions) firearms, while learning to fix problems quickly, and change magazines or ammo fast and safely.

Stances will include isosceles, Weaver, Chapman, kneeling (supported and unsupported) and prone.

Each course of fire will be performed in the open, behind cover or concealment.
