Our Instructors
have spent 54 years devoted to training in the art of hapkido and other martial
arts, and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers
and mentors. Through extensive testing and certification, our staff has attained
mastery in the martial arts and now enjoys sharing their skills and passing it on
to their students.

Chief Instructor Master Jere R. Hilland
, 6th dan
Jere R. Hilland Sabumnim is the chief instructor of Red River Hapkido and certified
by the United States Korean Martial Arts Federation (USKMAF)
and the Daehan Kidohwe (Korea Kido Association), Seoul, Korea. He is the
Senior Midwest USA Representative of the USKMAF and the Daehan Kidohwe.
Master Hilland is a yukdan (6th dan) who started
practicing the traditional Korean Martial Arts at
the age of 14 in 1974 near Houston, Texas.
A graduate of Texas A&M University (College of Architecture) and North Harris County College.A professional hapkido instructor, hapkido

instructor;
Hilland Sabumnim, is a former student of
Master Song Sang Chol; Master Cho Gee Bong; and Master Kang Ik Mu and a
direct student of Master J. R. West, Daehan Kidohwe 8th dan. Former
chief instructor of Hapki Dojang South (a Texas non-profit corporation);
former general secretary, board of directors, and board of examiners of
the Korea Martial Arts Association (Daehan Mudohwe); former chief
instructor of Martial Arts for the Cypress Creek YMCA; former chief
instructor of the Texas A&M University Korea Academy of Taekwondo;
former chief instructor of martial arts for the Bryan Independent School
District Community Education; former co-chief instructor of the Texas
A&M University Self Defense Club, and former chief instructor of the
Hapkido Self Defense Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Hilland Sabumnim holds dan (black belt) ranking from the
Unites States Korean Martial Arts Federation; the Korea Hapkido
Association (Kidohwe); the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Federation); Korea
Taekwondo Association, the World Hapkido Federation; and the Korea Martial
Arts Association. He holds a USTU Association Referee license. In
addition, Hilland Sabumnim has instructed members of the following
organizations: Secret Service, FBI, Texas Department of Public Safety
(State Police), Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff's
Department, Indiana State Police, Ohio State Police and US Army. He is
also a special correspondent and photographer for taekwondo times.
Assistant Instructor Master instructor Jennifer Hilland, 4th dan Jennifer
Hilland Sabumnim, holds a sadan (4th dan) in hapkido and taekwondo, became a
student of Master Park Bu Kwang in 1984. She is a former student of Master
Song Sang Chol and a graduate of the University of Houston at Clear Lake
and a Texas CPA. Hilland Sabumnim is also a former member, board of examiners of the Korea
Martial Arts Association; former instructor of the Texas A&M
University Self Defense Club; and former instructor of martial arts for
the Bryan Independent School District Community Education. Hilland
Sabumnim
holds dan (black belt) ranking from the Unites States Korean Martial Arts
Federation, Korea Martial Arts Association, Unified Taekwondo Federation
and the International Taekwondo Federation.
